Marion Piorkowski

Obituary of Marion R. Piorkowski

Marion R. Piorkowski, 89, died Monday April 24th surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Stanley, who died in 1980.

Born in Waymart PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Floreattia M. Buckland Minor.  She was a graduate of Clinton High School (Aldenville) and Wayne Commercial School where she was President of the Class of 1947.  Following graduation, she worked at Alden Wood Products.

Her greatest joy was her family.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She always put family first and was grateful to be a part of her grandchildren’s lives.  One of her greatest accomplishments later in life was learning how to drive at the age of 69.

Surviving are three sons, Stanley and wife, Marianne, Middleburg PA; Gary and wife Maureen, Mayfield; and Ronald and wife, Kathy, Honesdale; ten grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Terri, Allen TX; Stephanie and fiancée David Henkel, Dillsburg; Martin and wife Tara, Cheyenne WY; Daniel and Samuel Piorkowski, Mayfield; Kimberly Piorkowski, Nashville TN, Jessica Piorkowski, Allentown, Kathleen, Kelly and Jennifer Piorkowski, Honesdale; five great-grandchildren, George, Henry, Emily, Tyler, and Riley and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother James Minor in 2006.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Creekside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carbondale, for creating an environment that she often referred to as home.  We would also like to thank the many residents that she called friends for helping to make her time there so enjoyable.

Friends may call on Friday between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart PA.

The funeral will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James’s Church, 365 Great Bend Turnpike, Pleasant Mount PA at 10 a.m.  Persons attending the funeral Mass are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning.
