Obituary of Paul J. Krajkovich
Paul J. Krajkovich, 78, of South Canaan passed away on June 28th, 2018 at home, after battling pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Racht Krajkovich. They were married July 1, 1961.
Born June 29, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Koscelansky Krajkovich, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia in the late 1930’s.
Paul battled polio as a child and was told he would never walk. Soon after, he proved the doctors wrong. He moved to New Jersey where he met a small-town girl named Phyllis. It wasn’t all vanilla ice cream and sprinkles after that. They worked hard, shed sweat, tears & blood but was loved by Phyllis and the six children they raised.
For more than 40 years, Paul and his family have owned and operated The Gravity Inn. Paul was also the proprietor of Paul’s Garage in Waymart where he built the family businesses. Paul was a member of the Waymart Masonic Lodge #542. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Church. Paul was an accomplished woodworker; this was something he thoroughly enjoyed. Paul was a “Jack of all trades, and Master of some.”
He is also survived by five children: Jennifer Raymond and her husband Ed of Waymart, Allison Osborn and her husband Butch of Lake Ariel, Bridget Todd of Huntingtown, Maryland, John Krajkovich and his wife Courtney of Cherry Ridge, and Cliff Krajkovich of Waymart; a daughter in-law: Kathleen Krajkovich of Archbald; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Michael Krajkovich of FL and Joseph Krajkovich and wife Gina of NJ; a sister: Mary Farley and her husband Tom of Waymart; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was also preceded in death by a son, Paul “P.J.” Krajkovich in 2004.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA 18472. All attending are asked to go directly to the church.
Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to a local charity of the donor’s choice or to a person or family in this community who may have a special need.
