Obituary of Josephine Yatsonsky Appelbaum

Josephine Mican Yatsonsky Appelbaum, 98, of Waymart, formerly of New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Alexander Yatsonsky and Nathan Appelbaum.

Born February 10, 1920 in Hancock, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Mican.

She is survived by her son:  Charles Yatsonsky of Waymart; three granddaughters:  Denise Aumente, Cheryl Yatsonsky, and Michelle Henderlong; four great-grandchildren:  Nicole, Anthony, Melissa, and Alexandra; and a sister, Helen Syrylo of Waymart; and a step-son, Stephen Appelbaum.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. Edward Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA.

Graveside Services and Interment will be on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
