Obituary of Elwood S. Moyle
Elwood S. Moyle, 88, of Lackawaxen, formerly of Waymart died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born January 1, 1930 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Alfred and Viola (Cobb) Moyle.
Elwood proudly served his country as a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a foreman and supervisor at Hendrick Manufacturing in Carbondale. He was a valued, trusted, and respected employee and co-worker. Elwood was an avid and talented bowler and sportsman. He was an affable and gregarious person with many friends in many places. He loved his family dearly and will be remembered for being a wonderful father and cherished grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Frances Minnie (Pearce) Moyle in 2009, with whom he had five children: Craig Moyle and his wife Kathi of Waymart, Kristin Walker of Waymart, Beth Delancy and her husband Jeff of Hamden, CT, Karey Walker and her husband James of Crystal Lake, and Douglas Moyle and his wife Margaret of Scranton; 17 grandchildren: Matt, Brad, Meghan, and Cody Moyle, Raelyn Garriga, Colin Walker, Sarah Nebzydoski, Jordan Walker-Prior, Lucas Walker, Griffin Delancy, Jayme Chase, Mitchell Delancy, Bridey, Maggie, Spencer, Liam, and Skyler Moyle; 11 great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Eric, Sydney, Zyla, Brody, Ella, Colin Jr., Gwendalyn, Emerson, Lorelai, and Julian.
He is survived by his wife Joan Macedonia Moyle of Lackawaxen, and three step-children: Joseph Macedonia and wife Amber, Avata, Colorado, Denise DiGampoloia, Hawley and Michael Macedonia and wife Katherine, Lackawaxen ; 8 step-grandchildren: Deanna Casey, Sara DiGampoloia, Kristina DiGampoloia, Breanna Macedonia, TJ Macedonia, Michaela Macedonia, Michael Macedonia and Joseph Macedonia; 1 step great-grandchild: Cordelia Grace.
Elwood was also preceded in death by a sister: Miriam Purdon; and a son-in-law, Raymond Walker.
