Obituary of Doris V. Mead
Doris V. Mead, 96, of Creamton, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, December 3, 2018 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Clyde E. Mead on May 8, 2018. They were married on August 31, 1945.
Born April 20, 1922 at home in Aldenville, Doris was the daughter of the late Ira and Leah (Stiles) Wright.
Doris was a member of the Aldenville Baptist Church. She and Clyde owned and operated the family dairy farm in Creamton where they raised their family and lived throughout their lives. Doris enjoyed exhibiting cattle and sheep at the Wayne County Fair, the Harford Fair, and the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and baker. Doris loved her grandchildren and great-children dearly and always looked out for the well being of each of them. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters: Becky Geuther of Curtis Valley and Debbie Hiller and her husband Richard of Creamton; seven grandchildren: Rachel Geuther, Bonnie Johnson, Dale Geuther, Andy Geuther, Janet Curtis, Jennifer Weist, and Amanda Non; eight great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Mackenzie, Wyatt, Elijah, Paige, Ethan, and Cally; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was also preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Giles, Marge Gravalak, Evelyn Wright; and two sons-in-law, Donnie Eroh and Bob Geuther.
In accordance with her wishes, following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Aldenville Baptist Church, 971 Creek Drive, (Aldenville) Prompton, PA with Rev. Gary Gilpin officiating. All attending are asked to go directly to the church.
Interment will be private in Clinton Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris's memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wayne Memorial Hospice, especially to Karon Shaffer, RN for her care and compassion.
