Abey and Joan were close with my late father, Bob, and my earliest memories of growing up in and around Wayne County are filled with recollections of Abe. I recall plenty of endless summers playing with his son Jesse in the fields around the house, shad fishing at the camp on the Delaware, and of shaking down apple trees for annual cider production.
Later, when I got a job bartending at the Waymart hotel, Abe was a welcome afternoon presence when he'd stop by after work. I'd slide what was then his signature drink, a can of Genesee with a chaser can of tomato juice down the bar, and he'd growl jokes, grouse about politics, and tell stories, and generally tell me I didn't know what I was talking about. His memories of my father helped to piece together parts of my own life that I didn't even know about. He will be missed. Much love to Joanie and the family.

So sorry to hear about Abe. He was loved and respected by many. I met him when I was 17 yrs old, when I started working at the Waymart Hotel. He and “the boys” have been a large part of my life for a very long time. He has laughed with me through good times and support me through the hard times. He used to say to me, “why are you always smiling? Do you know something we don’t?” He will always hold a special place in my heart. Love and prayers to his family. ❤️

Sorry to hear this. My condolences to his wife, Joan and his family. I met Abe when I contracted him for a complex landscaping project when I moved into the area. He was competent and professional. When I look at his beautiful work, his name will always be associated with it.
