Obituary of Delbert H. Hauenstein
Delbert H. Hauenstein, 95, of Creamton, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center where he was a resident for the past two and a half years.
He was born on December 5, 1925 in Creamton, to David Sr. and Julia Hauenstein on the family farm. Delbert was educated in the Aldenville two room schoolhouse and graduated from Pleasant Mount High School. “Dizzy,” as he was known by his classmates, was a very talented high school baseball pitcher. After high school, he traveled to Rochester, NY to seek employment as a machinist. At the time of his retirement, he had become a supervisor.
Delbert was a member of The Medgedo Missions Church of Rochester, NY. Delbert came out of his retirement due to his love of the Lord and became a caretaker of the elderly. He enjoyed his friendships and making a difference in their lives. He also enjoyed taking them on car rides and stopping at yard sales to explore the treasures of other people. He had the gift of “gab.” Delbert also continued his hobby of stamp collecting. He was a very accomplished gardener and loved to share his bounty with others. Delbert was an avid Trout fisherman and enjoyed hunting rabbits and deer prior to his decline in health. Most people will remember him as the man “in the apple shed” at Hauenstein’s Orchard, Pleasant Mount. He thoroughly enjoyed “selling apples” for people to enjoy.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-laws: David Jr. (Violet), Dwight Sr. (Eunice) and Gordon. He is survived by his beloved cousin Dorothy Pazel; Nephews: David III, James, Leonard, Dwight Jr.; Nieces: Nancy, and Esther and their extended families; Daughters: Elaine, and Karen and families of New York State.
The family would like to extend a heart-filled thank you to all the staff at Ellen Memorial for their kindness and loving care.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held in The Riverdale Cemetery.
