Obituary of Sandra Jean Boguski
Sandra Jean Dukerich Boguski, 79, of Gulfport, Florida, formerly of Waymart, passed away Saturday evening, April 24, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family at her home. Her beloved husband of 56 years, Leonard Michael Boguski preceded her in death on January 3, 2018.
Born June 30, 1941 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Andrew B. and Mae E. (Olver) Dukerich. Sandy graduated from Waymart High School in 1959. She was a long-standing member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Waymart. She dedicated her time to numerous civic causes including the Waymart Historical Society, United Methodist Women and the Open Door Café. She wrote a book in 1976 on the history of Waymart in celebration of our nation’s bi-centennial. Sandy was the first female police officer in Waymart and co-owned Murray’s True Value Hardware Store in Honesdale for many years prior to retirement. She also worked for a number of years at Scranton Travel. Together with her family, Sandy enjoyed many wonderful times together at Lake Alden. She had a passion for travel, book club, antiquing and socializing with her many friends.
She is survived by her children: Sabrina (daughter) and William Lengner of Myerstown, PA, Michael (son) and Beth Boguski of Mountain Brook, AL, Colleen (daughter) and John Dickinson of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Tara (daughter) and Tim Hall of Easton, PA; grandchildren: Chad Lengner, Amanda Behney, Kristy Lengner, Ashley Lengner, Michael Boguski, Andrew Boguski, Zachary Dickinson, Ceaera McDermott, John Hall, Maddie Hall, Bethany Hall, Hallie Hall; great-grandchildren: Jackson Lengner, Kylie Lengner, Chloe Behney, Sadie Behney, Ellie Behney, Lincoln Behney, and Rose McDermott; and her sister, Kathleen Little of Waymart, PA.
Sandy was preceded in death by her brothers Ronald and Joseph Dukerich.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 151 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA, with Pastor Wendy D'Agostino officiating.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 7 from 10-11 AM in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s memory payable to "UMW" which is the United Methodist Women of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Waymart in support of the Open Door Cafe: PO Box J, Waymart, PA 18472.
Interment will immediately follow in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners.
