God Bless you Jim. Jim was a great guy and top-notch professional electrician. I enjoyed working with him and his friendship in Shariki, Japan. Enjoyed riding with him and some of the runs in Japan, especially the one to Sendai. A great patriot who will be missed! My most heartfelt condolences to Jim's family. Via con dios my friend.

Edward and Tae Schenk,
Jim will be remembered by Tae and I as always willing and never giving up. Being part of the IMAP program has many challenges and Jim was always striving to do his best with the limited resources. Thanks for everything and you are missed until we meet again.

Jim was our powerplant mechanic in Antarctica in 2017. He kept the lights on and the equipment running under some difficult conditions. But most importantly he was a great guy and a valued teammate. My most sincere condolences.

My condolences to the family. Jim and I were room mates and good friends at Palmer Station, Antarctica for the Winter2017 season. A thoughtful, somet, sometimes quiet.. most times outspoken, a little of a rebel.. and always dedicated and proud of his work. He always had my back. He spent some time as a contractor in Iraq as I but at Afghanistan... so we had that connection,we both knew of the mindset in the war zones.
Thank you for blessing the world with your son and sorry for your loss. You are missed Jim.... until we meet again.

Cous, it was devastating hearing this since we just lost Uncle Ronnie. Too young yes but what a milestone of accomplishments during the time you were with us, I'm impressed! You enjoyed doing what you love and that's what life's about. I'm so grateful we got to spend time together last month with some of the family at my new house and catch up. You will be dearly missed but the memories remain. I will be strong for our family and you take care of your grandparents, keep smiling, and ride on in heaven!

Jim passed way too early and I myself can’t wrap my head around it let alone try to understand how his family and Edwin feel. I met Jim at NYO and again last year when he drove to my hotel while I was in DC for COVID deployment test to deliver the Flir and Refractometer that I needed. He reminded me a lot of my self when I was his age. Very passionate about the job and opinions. You can’t deny that he loved his job and cared about the program. He didn’t have to bring me those tools, he could have just sent it to post. We spent about an hour talking about the job, his new role and his opinion on all of it. I realized after Jim left that we shared the same passion for the job, that’s why we do what we do. I’m happy to have known Jim Pasternak. I wish that the team can all be together to send him off the IMAP way. I wish good luck to all of us during our travels and for our gods to protect us and our families always.

My heart breaks for all of Jim’s family and friends.
Jim was always the sweetest, kindest person you could know. He always wanted to make people laugh and smile, and he was so good at it.
I have so many memories of laughing whenever Jim was around.
Some of my favorite memories were when we were in Sunday school classes.
I am incredibly grateful to have known Jim my whole life.
I am so very sorry to all who knew and loved him, he’s going to be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Pasternak Family we are so very sorry for the loss of James. He was a wonderful human being. We met him in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in January 2015. We were the oldest couple there, and we "adopted" a few of the youngsters including Jimmer. He loved my tacos. ❤
When my husband was hurt on the job in November 2015, and my own Mom passed away the next day....Jimmer was a rock for me. Mike had a long hospital stay, and during the surgery Jimmer was with me the whole time. He made me laugh, brought me Starbucks, whatever it took. We missed him so much when he left Taiwan, but we stayed in touch.
This was such a shock to us, so we cannot even imagine what a you are going through. Just know that our prayers are going out to you, and will continue. You raised a beautiful child, and we are forever blessed to be in his life for just a moment.
Sending Prayers and love,
Ruth and Michael Johnson
