Obituary of Dale L. Wilcox
Dale L. Wilcox, 68, of Calkins, passed away peacefully in his home on September 8, 2021.
Born October 4,1952 in Callicoon, NY, he was the son of Albert and Mary (Coe) Wilcox of Calkins.
Dale lived his life in Calkins alongside his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of almost 50 years, Cynthia D. (Erhardt) They raised their four children in the home that Dale built with his own hands, having been a very talented carpenter. Dale worked tirelessly as a builder, and if you were lucky enough to have done business with him through his work with Dorsan, Dexter, and, eventually, his own company, DWD, Inc., you would have seen what pride he took in his work.
Dale was a humble and devout servant for the Lord. He took every opportunity to preach and speak of God’s Word, and lived his life as such. Over the last 25 years, Dale performed numerous marriage ceremonies, and he used those opportunities to not only spread the Word, but to also give everyone around him a look into his quick wit and humor. He was generally a quiet and soft-spoken man, but when talking about his Savior, you got a glimpse into the funny, determined, and fervent side of him. He truly was a blessing to all who met him.
Dale, or “Rabbit” or “Grady” to those who knew him best, was deeply devoted to his family, and enjoyed every moment he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was the king of the “dad joke,” and, although he was met occasionally with eye rolls, he more often was making everyone laugh. He was a deeply loved husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend, and his passing will be felt by so many.
In addition to his wife, Dale is survived by his children: Micah Wilcox, and his wife Tracy, Seth Wilcox and his wife Libby, and Sarai Weber and her husband, Eric; his grandchildren: Morgen and Demi Wilcox, Cassidy, Hannah, Ava, and Miles Wilcox, and Aubree and Mariah Weber; his brothers, Dean Wilcox, and Dennis Wilcox and wife Jannette; and many nieces and nephews.
Dale was also preceded in death by his daughter, Megan E. Wilcox, and his parents.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Hook’s Cabin on Fallsdale Road, Tyler Hill.
In honor of Dale, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church (107 Milanville Road, Beach Lake, PA, 18405), or the Calkins Union Cemetery Association (23 Log Cabin Lane, Milanville, PA, 18443).
Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472. www.JenkinsHowellFuneralHome.com
