Josephine Casper, 95, of South Canaan passed away Saturday evening, May 28, 2022 at Regional Hospital of Scranton, after an illness. Her husband, Joseph Casper preceded her in death. Born October 29, 1926 in Laflin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Zapotosky. Josie was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Waymart. She was a hard worker, and faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. For many years, she was a seamstress at the former Waymart Knitwear. Josie will be lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She is survived by a son, Thomas L. Casper of South Canaan; two granddaughters, Julia and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Emmerson and Maverick; a daughter-in-law, Marie; nieces, and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gerald Casper; six brothers; and a sister. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA 18472. Friends may visit on Saturday, July 9 from 10-11 AM in St. Mary's Church. Interment will be private in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Owego Turnpike. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to St. Mary’s Church, PO Box 160, Waymart, PA 18472. Arrangements are entrusted to Edward R.
