Obituary of Sophie H. Kerylovicz
Sophie H. Kerylovicz, 91, of Waymart died Friday morning, April 7, 2017 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home in Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Kerylovicz in 1989.
Born May 12, 1925 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Stephana (Michalak) Roskoski.
Sophie was a seamstress for most of her life; she worked in Forest City and later at the Waymart Knitwear. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, and word-searches, but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by three children: Irene Lisi and her husband Dave of Rochester, NY, Leo Kerylovicz and his wife Sarah of Waymart, and Elaine VanSickle of South Canaan; a son-in-law: Clifford "Butch" VanSickle of South Canaan; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers: Leo Michalak and Stanley Michalak, both of Florida; a sister: Martha Marasco of Rochester, NY; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Lawrence Kerylovicz in 1992; a brother: Joseph Michalak; and three sisters: Cecilia Wright, Carmela Knapp, and Rita Deamon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, Waymart with Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor, officiating. All attending are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may visit on Sunday, April 9th from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M at Jenkins Funeral Home-Edward Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
Burial will be in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike, Waymart.
