Mom, Your health journey these past six months have been filled with much concern, sadness, and worry, but also laughs, reconnection of relationships, and a lot of childhood meals! When you were sick, you watched all of your children stand around you in prayer; and when you got better, you watched all of your children work in your kitchen, parlor, and outside. Each of your children re-kindled a relationship with you. You have eleven strong-minded children who all care for you dearly. We all entered your home and helped you to the best of our abilities. Some of us slept in your home, and we haven't slept there for over thirty years. Others cooked and reorganized things for you. We all glanced at your watchful eye or pointed finger when you wanted to address something. And, at the end of the day, we were all mindful of a clean kitchen! You know, Mom, if you asked me for anything, my answer would be more time. Mom, I miss you. I love you, Mom. - Your Lady in Red

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. My very large family and I have been vacationing up there at Yander’s Cottages for almost 70 years and now co-own Monarch Woods HOA over there. Mrs Salak’s baked goods were something we always looked forward to! She would greet us with a warm smile and friendliness every time!! The best apple turnovers we’ve ever eaten and it’s not even close. It sounds like she had some legacy and a beautiful family. May God continue to bless the Salak family. Our prayers and condolences! I and my two young daughters met Mrs. Salak one summer day 40 years ago when we saw her baked goods sign. Little did we know what a treat was in store for us. Mrs. Salak's kitchen became an essential stop for our frequent vacations at our summer cottage. And for me the treat endured for decades at the farmers market. I will miss you, Mrs. Salak, but I won't forget you.

My mother and I first met Mama Salak at the farmers market many years ago. Her oatmeal raisin cookies and great conversations always had us coming back every Saturday morning!
