My condolences to the family. I've had a connection all of my life through Elk lake, and most recently as a Canaan Road neighbor. I'll miss him waving be it from his pickup, back hoe, or from a lawnmower. On numerous occasions (usually when working on my vehicle in the driveway) Mr Henshaw would stop by with free advice and or history lessons. I always referred to him as Mr. Henshaw out of respect. Last memorial day I had noticed how worn out his flag had become. I stopped by and gave him a replacement which he ran up the pole immediately. He was very appreciative and stopped in to show me. I'll miss him waving but on the other hand I have a clear mental image of Lew as a reminder. Again my condolences and prayers to the family. He was a really good guy

I am VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I met Lou when I was a young man 62 years ago as my family had a hunting cabin above Hawksnest Cabin in Winterdale, ( COLES) CABIN). He came as a guest of Mr. Persravic and we hit it off rite away. I saw him a few hunting seasons after that but I was starting to raise my family and did not make it up to the cabin to often.I dd a stint in the ARMY in the 60's and did not have any time to deer hunt. After that I hunted every year and come hunting season there was a PARTY at Hawksnest Club foe Lou ad his birthday was in the 1st part of Dec Always a GREAT PARTY. Beer and Shots flowed like our creek behind our cabins. Always a birthday cake and songs. Many birthday nite I drove my Quad up the road with 1 eye open as if I opened 2 I would see doubles. Hawksnest invited me to Doe hunt with them one year and I got to spend some time talking with Lou. I rode with him in his side by side and we chatted a lot Lou and I did a land deal when my sisters wanted to sell their part of our land. Only fair to them and Lou made sure that I got the part of the land that I wanted. Lous passing took everyone by surprise and he will surely be MISSED.. He passed away doing something that enjoyed, With his son hunting at the cabin that he LOVED. I know that Lou now is in the HAPPY HUNTIMG GROUND, doing what he enjoyed. Lou, don't shoot to many as I am coming right behind you to hunt together again. RIP Lou and save some of those bucks for me. YOUR FRIEND. BOB COLE.
