Obituary of Donald W. Wilmot
Donald W. Wilmot, 67, of Waymart passed away unexpectedly after an extended illness on Thursday morning, May 4, 2023 at home. His wife of nearly 49 years, the former Cynthia L. Warholic survives him. They were married on May 11, 1974.
Born December 8, 1955 in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Loren Hayes Wilmot and Lois Dorothy (Gumble) Wilmot.
For many years, Don worked in the tree trimming industry. He loved being in the woods experiencing nature, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don enjoyed birdwatching and spending time in the quietness of the great outdoors. He looked forward to time spent among friends, listening to music, and loved playing horseshoes in local leagues. Don will also be remembered for his love of animals and a cold Genesee. Prior to his retirement when his health declined, Don worked for Charles W. Grimm Construction, Inc. for more than 20 years. He loved his time working there and was always grateful for his friendships with his coworkers and the Grimm family. Don will be fondly remembered and always missed by those who knew and loved him.
Don is also survived by two daughters: Trudy Enslin and her husband J.J. of Waymart, and Tara Leslie and her husband Dave of Lake Ariel; four grandchildren: Makenna Enslin, Chelsey Orminston and her husband Matthew, Matthew Leslie, and Jacob Leslie; a great-granddaughter, Blakely Ormiston; two sisters: Linda Day and her husband Al and Dawn Smith and her husband Jim; and a brother, Loren Wilmot and his wife Pam.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Douglas Gumble, James Gumble, Charles Wilmot, and Mark Wilmot.
Memorial Services will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
