Obituary of Anna Fitze

Anna Fitze, 101, of Waymart, formerly of Creamton passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 at Wayne Woodlands Manor.  Her beloved husband, Dorrance Fitze preceded her in death in 1977.

Born February 28, 1916 in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Ann (Sosenko) Willchock.

Anna worked on the family farm nearly all her life.  She also worked for three different shoe factories over the years.  Anna was a hard worker and managed to live more than 101 years without a driver’s license or photo identification.  She attended Calvary United Methodist Church in recent years.  Anna adored her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra F. Thorpe and her husband John of Waymart; six grandchildren:  Jim (Marianne) Thorpe, Randy (Sue) Thorpe, Lonnie and (Mary Ellen) Thorpe, all of Waymart, Bonnie (Mark) LaTourette of Torrey and Amy (Charles) Theobald of Creamton; fifteen great-grandchildren:  Carly, Kyle, Jesse and Justin Thorpe, Matt Lawler, Rachel Bartron, Finn Malakin, Megan Spaulding, Theron and Ryan LaTourette, Kristi Hartman, Valeri LaTourette, Stacey Hauseman, Becky and Andrew Theobald; nine great-great-grandchildren:  Caleb & Mariah Spaulding, Teagan & Liam LaTourette, Jacob, Olivia, and Tanner Hartman, and Leah & Levi Hauseman; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Clarence Fitze in 2003; a daughter-in-law, Lois Hunt Fitze in 2012; a grandson, Lee Fitze in 2006; five brothers, Vladimir, George, Paul, Russell, and Peter Willchock; and a sister, Mary Kobrin Boholnick.

The family wishes to express gratitude to everyone who loved and cared for Anna; especially to Linda Barnett for her compassion and presence during the time of Anna’s passing.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the pavilion at The Waymart Hotel, 205 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA 18472.

Private interment will be in East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
