Obituary of Joan M. Warncke


Joan M. Warncke, 81, of Beach Lake passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2017 at home after an extended illness.  She is survived by her husband of nearly 34 years, Werner Warncke.  They were married on August 9, 1983.

Joan was born September 28, 1935 in Honesdale the daughter of the late Rudolph and Cecelia (Lubinski) Dieterich.

Joan worked for many years in the offices of several retail department stores.  She was best known for owning and operating the Cuckoo's Nest restaurant with Werner in Bohemia, near Hawley for nearly 30 years. 

She is also survived by two children:  Pamela Hilton and her husband James of Liverpool, NY and Timothy White and his wife Samantha of Hawley; a son-in-law, Jerry Lupyak of Waymart; two step-sons:  Rolf Warncke and his wife Elaine of New Jersey and Garry Warncke and his wife Lynne of San Diego, CA; a brother: Rudy Dieterich and his wife Anne of Lake Wallenpaupack; a sister:  Patricia Olver of Waymart; grandchildren:  Brendan Lupyak, Shawn Nolan and his wife Katie, Christopher Nolan and his wife Jana, Mark White, Eric White, and Robyn White; five step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Joan was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert P. White in 1978; a daughter, Diane Lupyak in 2001; a brother-in-law, Gary Olver; and a grandson, Ryan Nolan.

Funeral Services will be held on Joan and Werner's 34th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, August 9 at 10:30 A.M. in Jenkins Funeral Home-Edward Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, August 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be on Wednesday in Aldenville Cemetery.
