Obituary of Roland Hetticher
Roland E. Hetticher, 80, of Waymart passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet (Spry) Hetticher in 2011. They were married on October 22, 1960.
Born October 28, 1937 in St. Albans, New York, he was the son of the late Robert and Caroline (Haas) Hetticher.
Roland was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale. From 1959 through 1965, Roland served his country in the US Army National Guard. He and Janet enjoyed many years square dancing with the Rare Squares. They also enjoyed camping and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Roland worked for many years at Moore Business Forms where he was a press operator. He was well known in the Waymart community for his saw and blade sharpening business, “Rollie’s Sharp-All Shop.” In his later years, he oversaw the operations of the car wash in Waymart where he enjoyed visiting with folks each day. Roland will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
He is survived by three children: Kevin Hetticher and his wife Patti of New Hampshire, Eugene Hetticher and his wife Denise of Honesdale, and Charlene Schermerhorn of Waymart; five grandchildren: Matthew, Erin, and William Hetticher, and Justin and Jeremy Schermerhorn; a brother-in-law, William Spry of White Mills, and two nieces: Laurie Bishop and Linda Tonetti.
Roland was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Utegg, and a brother who died in childhood, Robert.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 15 at 11:00 A.M. at Jenkins – Howell Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 14 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Interment will be Wednesday in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners.
