Obituary of Pauline M. Poska

Pauline Margaret (Dietrich) Poska, 84, of Waymart passed away on Friday morning, January 19, 2018 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Poska who passed away on March 27, 1981.

Born September 8, 1933 in Black River, New York, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Wilson) Dietrich.

Before starting a family, Pauline worked as a nurse in New York.  After raising her son,  she returned to workforce at the Waymart Knitwear until her retirement. Pauline enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and crossword puzzles. She will be lovingly remembered for making the best and biggest chocolate chip cookies. Pauline enjoyed Sunday dinners with the family and grandchildren; and she also enjoyed playing cards. Pauline loved her pets over the years; most recently she enjoyed her cat, Charlie.  Above all, she will be fondly remembered for her love and commitment to her family. 

Pauline is survived by her son, Michael Poska and his wife Ellen (Yamialkowski) of Waymart; and grandsons, Matthew and Christopher Poska.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Poska.

The Poska family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at Wayne Woodlands Manor for the compassionate care they provided. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA. 

Friends may call on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pauline's memory to The Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Road, Honesdale, PA 18431, St. Mary's Church, PO Box 160, Waymart, PA, or the donor's favorite charity.
