Obituary of Jim Shaffer
James A. “Shifty” Shaffer, Jr., 58 of South Canaan, passed away at home on Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer.
Born September 19, 1959 in Callicoon, New York, he was the loving son of James A. Shaffer, Sr. and Shelvie (Savitz) Shaffer of South Canaan.
Jim graduated from Western Wayne High School in 1977. He was a brilliant automotive mechanic who could fix just about anything. An avid and enthusiastic motorcyclist, Jim was known as one of the very best Harley-Davidson mechanics. He specialized in antique Harley-Davidson engines. Jim was an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be forever missed and always loved.
In addition to his parents, Jim is also survived by his brother, Harry Shaffer and his wife Nancy of South Canaan; several nieces, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Brenda Kay Shaffer and Jean Marie Shaffer.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. in the South Canaan Free Methodist Church, 19 St. Tikhon’s Road, South Canaan, PA with Pastor William Rushik officiating.
Private interment will be in South Canaan Bible Protestant Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the American Cancer Society.
