My wife, Lenore Miller, Elaine,s cousine was the the flower girl at Clark and Elaine's wedding in 1942. Lenore would have been 8 years old at that time. She was Jesse Miller' s daughter and they lived only a few miles from Elaine. Elaine's father was Elmer Miller, Jesse's older brother. Elmer was also a diary farmer as well as an Insurance Agent for Farmers Insurance.
In our vacation travels we payed visits to Cousin Elaine, Clark and Aunt Sarah and Uncle Ken Swartz when we traveled through the Carolina's. In being raised in a rather strict fundementalist environment I never had much to do with " them liberal Methodists".
Cousin Clark really gave me a much better picture as we would sit and converse and Elaine & Lenore would walk out among the flowers and the roses. Clark always had a prolific garden patch there at Arbor Acres and I had to admire his literary as well as his horticulture
profile. I even got somewhat over their being southern democrats and Hillary admirers. Those visits were rather transforming for me
and I will always look back with admiration on their gracious manners and loving hospitality.
