Obituary of Robert Simmons

Robert F. Simmons Jr., 77, formerly of Waymart, PA and Venice, FL, passed away on Friday afternoon, May 4, 2018 at Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Rosemarie (Hellgoth) Simmons on May 29, 2017.

Born February 4, 1941 in Glen Cove, New York, he was the son of the late Frederick and Rachel (Mitchell) Simmons.

Prior to retirement, Robert worked for New York Telephone where he was a lineman for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Waymart.

He is also survived by four children:  Lisa LaRusso, Edward Simmons, Steven Simmons and his wife Ellen, and Michael Simmons and his wife Heather; seven grandchildren: Robert Joseph Simmons, Michael John Basillion, Loraleah Basillion, Cameron Basillion, Emma Simmons, Michael Simmons, and Norah Simmons; and a sister:  Diane Barro and her husband Michael.

He was preceded in death by a brother:  Donald Simmons.

A Blessing Service will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Deacon Edward Kelly of St. Mary’s Church officiating.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to a local veteran's organization.
