Obituary of Clyde E. Mead

Clyde E. Mead, 94 of Creamton passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018 at home.  He is survived by his wife of 72 years, the former Doris V. Wright.  They were married on August 31, 1945.

Born October 29, 1923 at home, Clyde was born and died in the same house where he lived his entire life. He was the son of the late Henry and Clara (Hauenstein) Mead.

Clyde was a member of the Aldenville Baptist Church. A lifelong farmer, Clyde was especially fond of Ayrshire dairy cattle and Horned Dorset sheep.  For many years he showed cattle and sheep and the Wayne County Fair.  He also exhibited livestock at the Harford and Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fairs as well.  Clyde’s favorite hobbies included hunting and trapping which he did most of his life. He lived a simple life and loved his family more than anything else.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters:  Becky Geuther of Curtis Valley and Debbie Hiller and her husband Richard of Creamton; seven grandchildren:  Rachel Geuther, Bonnie Johnson, Dale Geuther, Andy Geuther, Janet Curtis, Jennifer Weist, and Amanda Non; eight great-grandchildren:  Tyler, Jessica, Mackenzie, Wyatt, Elijah, Paige, Ethan, and Cally; a sister-in-law, Norma Mead of Waymart; and several nieces and nephews.

Clyde was also preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Mead; a sister, Leta Gaylord, and two sons-in-law, Donnie Eroh and Bob Geuther.

In accordance with his wishes, following cremation, a Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Clinton Center Cemetery, 1000 Belmont Turnpike, Waymart, PA.  Officiating will be Pastors Gary Gilpin and David Laubach. All attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Clyde’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
