I have known Al for about 36. yrs.....He could never say no to a friend in need. Many a good time I had. Ever looking for a part Al would say "I have one up in the junk yard...Go up and get it". Al use to call me the "crow"...... He would say "Here comes the crow".......coming to pick something shiny from his junk yard. And I would laugh....I helped him many a time towing cars from the Wayne County Fairs demolition derby back to his junk yard.....Al was a farmer...He had a turkey, guinea hens, a dog on wheels(Frank) and ducks on the pond. Just last week Sandy's car died and I called Al and he went over, picked up the car and towed it to Gerch's Garage...I stopped on Fri evening to straighten up with Al...We had a few laughs and then the episode happened. Who would know this would be our last visit. Our friendship goes back a long way. So glad I stopped. He will be greatly missed..God speed. I will miss u my friend.....

Beyond Our Reach, But Not Beyond Our Hearts! Few weeks ago , Al and I payed it forward to a family in need, as my neighbor was in critical ICU with a brain injury! We managed to find her car in Scranton and we towed it home, as I tried to keep up with you on the side streets of Scranton, you managed to get lost, and left me in the wind, only to meet at the diner and we had a great time having lunch with laughter!! Expecting nothing in return!! Spending our day together and having you meet our grandson! Just warms our hearts!!! We laughed the day I called you to help me get a shed home you never told me No always being available!!! To hook up at Home Depot with this shed! You drove home w the shed on back of the roll back, me with my 4 ways on!!! Again you left me in the dust!! On the back roads may you continue to travel!! We miss you already! Give our boy a hug!, and we will be looking for some amazing signs!! If only Heaven had a phone!!! Forever in our hearts! Gina & Hubby

May Allan Rest in Peace...such a good man...he will surely be missed by many in his and his surrounding communities. I can personally say he taught me a lot growing up as he was my second employer. Many a good laugh working along side the great AW....along with many more emotions we will not mention here....the good certainly must have outweighed the bad because I went back to work for Al a second time, and I can say I am not alone....Scotty can back me up on this, amongst a few others....still he had plenty to teach us. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter what he got in return, if even nothing....he was simply a good man. This world needs more men like him today for sure. I am glad I had the chance to be up the yard on Friday for him to bust my chops one last time, he was always good for that, with good intentions of course....if only I had known, I would have stuck around a bit longer... I will miss his stories and his good company the most. Now he can ride on into eternity on all of his tractors....at Gods speed my friend....til we meet again.

I am so sorry to hear about Allan. I remember growing up (summers) on the farm with Allan. There was so much work to do, but Allan made it "fun". My husband & I continued to visit Allan regularly over the years before we moved south. He will be truly missed.

Honesdale has lost a great man and I’m very sorry for his family. My dad and Al have been great friends for years. Many times I went with my dad over to his garage just to see the dogs he had running around. He always had a smile on his face and cracked a joke or two.

What a great guy. I remember as a kid needing car parts and being scared to death of the junkyard dogs. He would laugh every time I got close to one and he would always help me out no matter what I need. My last encounter with Alan was most memorable when he took me out and showed me his tractors in the garage it took an hour and a half I’m gonna miss his smile. Rest in peace you deserve it
