Rich Holtman posted a condolence

If this is the Jimmy Stanford who went to PSU Mont Alto then this message is in the right place. I am Richard Holtman who knew both Jim Stanford and Gene Hockensmith. My first day at Mont Alto Jimmy and I met and went picking apples from a nearby orchard in our pillow cases. He got turned on to hunting and loved it. We called Gene the mountain man and he taught us a lot about hunting. Jimmy was a great friend. He visited my wife and I in Deposit NY where I got my first job and built a house. Jimmy borrowed a stick shift VW but did not know how to downshift so every time he went up a hill and lost power had to pull over and restart from first gear. I taught him how to downshift. If this is the Jimmy I knew I am saddened to hear of his passing. I will always remember him and Gene. My email address is richholtman@yahoo.com. God bless him!

Jim was one enjoyable guy to have known. The old red truck, the building of his little cabin, listening to stories of hunting with Gene Hockensmith and stalking turkeys. I’ll cannot forget his cheeky reference to “Moose” and the shock she had when learning he was cooking a squirrel in her oven.... He was born to live outdoors, I hope he lies under a clear sky because Jim loved the stars too much to ever be fearful of the night....May the wild geese lead you home my friend.....

Deeply sorry on the loss of Jim. Our hearts and prayers are with Joanie and family. Jim was and always will be the greatest husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. It is a great honor to have had him as a part of our family. Love you Jim, and I know you will always be watching over the love of your life, my sister Joan and family.
