Obituary of Christy Ann Strange
Christy Ann Strange, 78, of Virginia City, Nevada and Aldenville, PA, passed away after a lengthy illness, peacefully, and with her daughter by her side on Sunday morning December 5, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Born May 18, 1943 in Port Chester, New York, she was the daughter of the late George W. Strange Jr. and Ruth Ella (Slater) Strange. Christy Ann believed strongly in education and used her Masters of Library Science from Drexel University to run the Nevada Storey County (Nevada) Library system throughout the 1980s and 90s until her retirement. She was an avid traveler near and far and applied her Anthropology undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University to observe the many cultures of the world. Her keen interest in local family history encouraged her to donate many family items to the Wayne County Historical Society collections. As an environmentalist, she was a member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and completed the Penn State Master Gardeners Program. She educated and helped local landowners become better stewards of their land through implementation of best forest practices on her Red Shale Farm Forest in Prompton, PA.
Christy Ann is survived by her daughter, Corie Naugle and her husband Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Justus and Alexus; and many Slater, Strange, and Bowen cousins.
Christy Ann was an active member of both St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Virginia City, NV as well as the Aldenville Baptist Church in Aldenville, PA. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Aldenville Baptist Church, 971 Creek Drive, Prompton (Aldenville), PA 18456 with Pastor William Mountain officiating. Interment will be private in Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, New York at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Christy's memory to the Aldenville Baptist Church.
